Ex-detective Jackson Brodie takes on a seemingly routine case involving a stolen painting in Yorkshire, only for the trail to lead him to Burton Makepeace, a grand but financially struggling ancestral home. To raise funds, part of the estate has been converted into a hotel hosting a staged Murder Mystery weekend.
