We Won’t See Auschwitz BY Jérémie Dres Following the death of his grandmother, Jérémie Dres and his older brother travel to Poland to explore their Jewish family roots and reconnect with a history that has shaped their identity. Rather than visiting Auschwitz, they journey to places connected to their family’s past, including Warsaw and Kraków, meeting members of Poland’s contemporary Jewish community along the way. Through conversations, historical discoveries, and personal reflections, they explore what it means to be Jewish and Polish today, while examining the lasting impact of the Holocaust on collective memory and cultural identity. Blending autobiography, documentary research, and graphic storytelling, We Won’t See Auschwitz is a thoughtful exploration of family history, cultural heritage, and the relationship between remembering the past and embracing the present.
